What matters most for pet hair?
Do not shop by suction number alone. A robot still has to loosen hair from carpet, move it through the brush system without wrapping, and get it into the dustbin. That is why we gave extra weight to measured pet-hair pickup and anti-tangle results rather than simply ranking the model with the largest Pa number.
For pet households, we also considered carpet deep cleaning, automatic dust emptying and obstacle avoidance. Better obstacle handling can be useful around bowls and toys, but no robot vacuum should be relied upon to safely identify every pet accident. Pick up pet waste and other hazardous messes before an automated cleaning run.
How we chose these picks
The Practical Buyer has not personally lab-tested these machines. We reviewed current manufacturer specifications and pricing and cross-checked them against independent Vacuum Wars testing. The recommendations emphasize pet-hair pickup, hair-tangle resistance, carpet performance, obstacle handling, dock automation and price.
We also separate manufacturer claims from independent results. Suction figures are manufacturer specifications; the pet-hair, hair-tangle and carpet deep-clean percentages cited above come from Vacuum Wars testing.
